We are back from Wanderlust and I am thrilled to share with you that Andrew and I have some partner yoga and acro yoga workshops coming up this fall at Pure Yoga Westboro. This will be the first time Andrew and I will be offering an acro-specific workshop at Pure Yoga Ottawa and we couldn’t be more excited. What’s the difference? Partner Yoga is incredibly beginner friendly and incorporates a standing asana practice with your partner that leads into bone stacking and an intro to flight. Acro Yoga is all levels friendly, requires some body awareness and encourages a deeper sense of trust ~ offering a light solo warm up that instantly leads into flying to new heights ~ front flying, back flying, acro vinyasa and acro therapeutics with thai massage. You really should check it out ~ it’s an absolute blast and guarantees a fun, light-hearted and laughter-filled evening.

Mixing Up the Beats

Happy long weekend and last day of July, yogis!

To get your asanas groovin’ and shakin’ this fabulous weekend, here is my current favourite playlist this weekend ~ a dancehall and dancehall-inspired set of tunes. This one is sure to get you fired up to enjoy the incredible sunshine ~ whether you are working away {inside or out}, partying, driving or just enjoying copious amounts of yoga on the dock.

The Body Love Bootcamp

Happy Hump-Loving Day, yogis!

As some of you are aware, two topics that I hold very near and dear to me are body image and self love. Whether we are wrapped up wanting to be stronger, thinner, less this, more that…a majority of us (men and women alike) are wrapped up with what we don’t have instead of appreciating what we do have. Negative body image and body shaming are a too-common and way-too-socially-acceptable reality for so many of us.

I am so excited to be offering such a powerful series of workshops designed to inspire and empower ~ encouraging a healthier body image and a much deeper sense of love for your body {inside and out}. This is a collaborated offering and I am pleased to be working with the loving and talented yogi and nutritionist, Sara Moroz, of Barebones Nutrition in Motion. Our Body Love Bootcamp will offer a beautifully unique blend of yoga, nutrition, meditation, breath work, discussion and a whole heck of a lot of self care! It’s time to create this crucial shift ~ a journey into the body and mind to get back in touch with ourselves on a deeper level and really start to truly love these incredible vessels that our beautiful souls get to reside in.

The goal? To start to appreciate every glorious inch of you – inside and out – so you can confidently rock what you’ve got!

What’s on the menu {without divulging too much}

Week #1 – Saturday, April 30th (2pm – 4pm)

Intro – Diving In
Today, we will address our “troubled” spots (you know, those areas we nit-pick all too often). This is our first step in our journey towards feeling absolutely amazing. What’s on the agenda:
~ Feel Good Flow co-led by Ciara and Sara
~ eating to feel amazing

Week #2 – Saturday, May 14th (2pm – 4pm)
Stepping into Your Power
It’s time to realize exactly how strong your body and mind are today, folks. Today is the day we start to really tune in and start digging a little deeper. Week 2 includes:
~ an empowering (and accessible) Power yoga class led by Ciara
~ breathwork for vital strength

Week #3 – Saturday, May 28th (2pm – 4pm)
Get Your Shift Together
This is our check in. How do you want to feel? What are you going to do to get there? In this workshop, we really hone in on creating the shift in order to embrace positive change. Our intention is to rebuild. Week 3 includes:
~ a sweet Flow practice led by Sara
~ a delicious nutrition segment offering recipes, meal tips and sample snacks

Week #4 – Saturday, June 11th (2pm – 4pm)
Self Care is Sexy
The final chapter of The Body Love Bootcamp. We will snuggle up to the deliciousness of self care. This workshop will include:
~ a sweet and seculent yin practice co-led by Ciara and Sara
~ meditation for the heart
~ breathwork to reduce stress
~ massage, aromatherapy and candlelight.

{Sacred Pause} BREATHE

The {Sacred Pause} is a series of workshops intended to encourage us to slow down, tune in and remember to take the time for ourselves to help nourish our mind, body and soul.

The second part of this series is all about the power of breath. Whether we’re talking about the inhales in our practice or the exhales of our sighs, our breath is telling of our overall quality of each moment in our lives. We spend so much time taking for granted the fact that our brains automatically tell our bodies to breathe that we often miss out on the opportunity to let this be a conscious act. Our breath helps to move us in our vessels and can heavily affect our ability to get unstuck in our minds. I am offering the opportunity for you to treat yourself to a journey inward on your mat to discover what it’s like to be really present ~ a journey through your breath to a deeper sense of peace and satisfaction.

Two hours of blissfully sweet pranayama {breath work}, a sweet yoga practice and meditation that are all about reconnecting you with the art of conscious breathing to offer you a greater quality of life and a deeper sense of peace. Everything offered at the workshop will be things you can easily incorporate into your life at home and at the office. If you suffer from anxiety, depression, experience a lot of daily stress or you would simply love to explore what those big beautiful lungs of yours are capable of, this workshop is for you. {Yes, my essential oils will be comimg with me and the space will be beautiful} This will be one of the sweetest & loving offerings you can gift yourself with. New Class at Movati Athletic Barrhaven

I am pleased to announce that I will now be teaching a Hot Foundations class at 12:15pm on Sundays at Movati Athletic in Barrhaven. This is the perfect class for folks new to the hot room {or new to yoga}. This class will offer a challenge at a slower pace with lots of detailed instruction and hand-on assistance.

Andrew and I both sporting our favourite matching shirts {Chill and Be Still} after teaching a sweet and lighthearted partner yoga workshop. Also loving life in my favourite Ginkgo Capri.

Partner Yoga Updates

Acro Yoga Series {Weekly}

Andrew and I are beyond excited to announce that we are currently in the process of organizing and sequencing a six week series of partner / acro yoga weekly classes for yogis looking to advance their practice of yoga for two.

The first series will incorporate the basics of flight, therapeutics as well as all beginner and dabbling into intermediate acro yoga postures.

Series two will include intermediate postures as well as the introduction {and more} to Acro Vinyasa {fluid transitions}.

The weekly acro series classes will run in Ottawa {venue to be announced}. Keep an eye open for more details and dates coming soon! Feel free to subscribe / follow my blog for all updates on the Acro Yoga Series.

You can’t tell, but the Inner Fire Anatomical Heart is adorned on both of our shirts.

Thankful for My Inner Fire

For those of you that aren’t aware, I was fortunate enough in Summer 2015 to be welcomed as a member of the Inner Fire Luminary team (brand ambassador). With the infamous love day just around the corner, I am offering some fun workshops that highlight the basic human need for love and connection. No, this doesn’t have to be all romantic and lovey-dovey. This applies to all relationships – your romantic partner (should you choose to have one at this time), your amigos/amigas, your famjam and, most importantly…YOURSELF.

It is absolutely wonderful to be in love and have all of these wonderful folks around you that you love…but at the end of the day, if you don’t love you it’s pretty darned hard to love other people {and to let yourself be loved the way you deserve in return}.

Happy New Year, love bugs!

As I sit here reminiscing and pondering over 2015, I am filled with so much gratitude. So much has happened. So much has changed. For each experience (entirely inclusive of the good, the bad and the ugly), I am so utterly thankful for. It has led me to where I am and who I am today.

I’ve heard a lot of people talk lately about how awful 2015 was for them. I am a firm believer that we are never given more than we can handle. I also truly believe that we are responsible for how we choose to react to each offering life gives us. Sometimes we need to learn lessons. We occasionally need to take a roll in the mud to find clarity. Sometimes we need to grow…change…evolve. Growth doesn’t happen without hiccups and challenges. The events that shake us most help shape us into the incredible higher beings that we have deeply rooted within us. They connect us with our inner knowing – our true Self.

We are fully capable of handling everything that comes to us in life. It is up to us how we choose to react and respond to each given situation that we happen upon.

2014 was life-changing for me. I was laid off. A two and a half year relationship came to a screeching halt. My sweetheart 11 year old rabbit (Lexx) died. My Mum got sick and lost her life to cancer two weeks after being diagnosed. Those were just the big things. That year could have shaped me in so many different ways. It could have seriously flattened me out on my ass, had I let it. I had choices to make. Be strong, persevere and be grateful or just let everything drag me straight down. Was it an easy year? Hell no! I chose to trust that the universe had a plan for me. I chose to trust myself – my strength, my inner fire and a deeper sense of knowing.

My choice of mindset through the “shit storm” that was 2014 led me straight here. All of these things shook me in to remembering that life is too short to sweat the small stuff (and, trust me…in the grand scheme of things, it’s all really effing small). I gave up working at a desk and I decided to pursue my dreams. I stopped worrying about whether or not I was ready and simply trusted that I am enough exactly as I am. Sure, 2014 was enveloped with a bunch of losses, but in the end it brought me so much more joy than all of the heartache. It brought me to the point of pursuing what I wanted instead of waiting around for it. I had the power of choice (as we all do) and I took this path with all of my might.

2014’s hardships offered me a fresh perspective and led me into this incredible journey through 2015.

Oh, 2015. I have my dream job where I am grateful everyday that I get to share my passion with so many beautiful souls. I work with / for some incredible people at six different facilities – one of these places is the studio I had dreamt of teaching at since the first day I stepped foot inside my now-yoga hOMe. My dream job has also led me to meeting a loving army of yogis that meet me on the mat regularly (and sporadically) that I am so grateful for – without you lovely yogis / students, I wouldn’t be able to live this beautiful dream that is now my reality. I am also proudly an Inner Fire Luminary and a Mala Rae ambassador – two beautiful and incredible Canadian companies I love and support. Most important of all, I have some of the most fabulous loved ones in my life that have allowed me to lean on them when I grow tired of being strong all the time (and who have trusted me to do the same for them), who I can share endless and belly-aching laughter with and who love me just as I am (who I am lucky enough to love right back. I am so bloody grateful for today. 2015 has had its hiccups, too, but nothing to write home about.

It’s been an incredible year. So much growth and personal evolution has happened. I feel more centred and ready to keep pursuing my dreams. I feel incredibly blessed for all that I have and, most importantly, everything I have to offer.

Reflecting on 2015, what will you choose to make of what it offered you? What will you choose to cultivate for 2016?

I can’t wait to see what will come in 2016. Cultivating endless love, dream chasing and growth. Wishing you everything your heart desires for this beautiful New Year, my loves!

Forget about what you think your shapes should look like and really start to embrace how they feel. Every body is different which means no two bodies will look exactly identical in a pose.
